This lovely old lady came to Bluebonnet recently as part of a neglect case. She’s about 25 years old, and the poor girl arrived without a name. Her foster home is currently working to find a name that fits her. She’s emaciated under her long hair. While life seems to have been hard recently, she clearly used to be loved and cared for. She leads, loads, and stands tied. She likes attention and has known human kindness in the past. Who knows why she tumbled from grace and became one of the neglected. Fortunately, she’s now in a foster home who loves her – but she’s got a long road back to health! She needs a safety halter ($29.95) and lead rope ($12.95), dewormer (4 tubes would get her dewormed for a year, about $25), and $150 for vaccinations and $150 for dental work.

Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
