July - August 2020
Koenig is an almost 29 year old Hanovarian/Trehkaner, imported from Wurtemburg, Germany. His name means "king" in German. He showed Intermedaire II in Germany and came to the US at 9 years old. Within a year, Koenig landed at SCR as a rescue/rehab. Koenig has been the heart and soul, the light of Second Chance Ranch for nearly 20 years, but he moves more slowly now because he has two holes in his heart. His holiday wish is a joint supplement (an 80 day supply is $105), a Himalayan salt block ($18), some Purina Senior ($22/bag) and Standlee Certified Alfalfa Cubes ($39.23 on Amazon with free shipping! Use Amazon Smile!) and German (but of course!) Horse Muffins ($32.43).

Thank you to Suzanne B., Randa W., Magdalena T., Emily W., Irene J., Dianne E., Ann J., Al H., and Stacey H. for helping to grant Koenig's wish! $80 more needed!
Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
